INTREPID COMPANY TWEAKS BRAND, ADDS MOBILE APPS, STARTUP STRATEGY
Consulting Firm Is Now Intrepid Company
When the Intrepid Media writer community launched in 1999, it was an instant success. Not only were writers coming on board from all parts of the world and attending annual events in diverse places like New York, DC, and Las Vegas, but customers started calling and asking for the technology behind the site. A few years later, Intrepid Media Consulting was born and served up technology at intrepidmedia.net based on the popular community. As its technical and management consulting offerings expanded, so did the confusion over the name. So the consulting firm has rebranded itself Intrepid Company.
"When we first started the consulting practice, it was a benefit to have both companies named Intrepid Media. It was just me at the time, and customers were mainly focused on the web community technology and features," said Joe Procopio, founder of Intrepid Media and CEO of Intrepid Company. "Once we started hiring and taking on different kinds of engagements, we realized pretty quickly we needed to rebrand. We still want the name recognition and the lean vibe that comes with Intrepid Media, so the choice of Intrepid Company was pretty obvious."
Those new engagements have become the standard for Intrepid Company, whose mission is to implement technology and services to help companies start initiatives to get them to the next level. Intrepid has been working with large clients like the City of Raleigh as well as consulting for early to mid-stage start-ups and even cranking out mobile apps.
"The iPhone and iPad app development interest has been insane," added Procopio. "I believe people are starting to see the evolution of these apps as more than customer driven or fad. There are serious and awesome business implications here, and we're capitalizing on that."
