INTREPID COMPANY ASSISTS WITH UPGRADE OF CITY OF RALEIGH REVENUE SYSTEM
Upgrade is Part of Broad Citywide Software Upgrade
Chapel Hill, NC (November 15, 2010) – Intrepid Company has completed a successful upgrade of the City of Raleigh's iNovah Revenue System, the same system Intrepid Company helped launch almost eaxctly two years ago.
The major upgrade was necessary to create new interfaces and reports related to a massive city-wide software upgrade that has been nearly three years in the making. The iNovah system, a web based cashiering and revenue collection system, is used by the City to take payments for myriad services, including utility bills, business licenses, and others, and it also interfaces with several enterprise applications.
"The City called on us for two reasons," said Joe Procopio, CEO of Intrepid Company, "We've got experience with the technology and with all of the business processes, and the city-wide upgrade they've got underway has tapped all their internal resources. Also, this was a one-shot, must-be-right-the-first-time situaiton with a lot of moving parts. The City has used our methodology on several occasions and wanted to bring it in again to maintain order in what could have been a sea of chaos."
Intrepid Company was brought in to manage a single aspect of the project, a 3-month preparation and run-up to Go Live. With various application providers, consultants, vendors, and internal staff working on the city-wide upgrade, tightly integrated methodology and management was a must.
"Everything had to go off exactly at the right time. The big upgrade took over a week. Our part was a weekend, but if we were late, if any piece of it was late, it could snowball pretty quickly."
Intrepid Company's Lean Methodology allowed the City to efficiently manage their resources, technology, issues, and deadlines with limited documentation and no status meetings. The iNovah upgrade was successful and completed much earlier than expected.
Intrepid Company continues to work with the City on several technical and management projects.
